This year i grew some tomatoes. I picked them as they got red, but wasnt able to eat them all at once. I went to eat some last night and found out of 5 of them, 3 seemed to have baby palnts growing from the seeds. Has anyone seen this before? Can I plant the tomato and grow more. Anyone got ideas.
Awwwwwww I am so sad I have had my first blocking from PMing someone.

If you throw a tomatoe on your garden and it breaks down soon tomatoe plants will grow from that.

Cool - we have tomatoes growing like triffids taking over the place lol
Some of the fruit has fallen off - just couldn't get to it in time
Got heaps in the freezer - I love tomatos but cant keep up with the fruit they are giving, had one so big it could only just cover it with both hands, and the biggest plants are as tall as me ! (5'10")

Pick nice firm tomatoes Remove stem
Clean the tomatoes by rinsing them individually under a stream of running water
Fill apot with water and bring it to a rapid boil. Dip 2 to 3 tomatoes at a time into the water. Remove the tomatoes from the pot with a slotted spoon when the skins begin to loosen (after about 30 seconds)
Plunge the tomatoes immediately into an ice water bath. This stops the tomatoes from cooking and further loosens the skins.
You can freeze the tomatoes whole or cut them into halves or quarters.
Pack the tomatoes into freezer bags, leaving one inch of headroom at the top of the bag. Freezer bags that have a zipper seal work best. Squeeze the air of the bag and zip the top closed.

Or just slice in half inch slices and freeze on a tray.

Once frozen store in freezer bags, freeflow and use in stews or on top of pizza etc.

Probably wont last quite as long as blanching them and try and keep as much air out of them as possible, but I always freeze my extra tomatoes like this.

My bro in law gave me some really yummy tomatoes a few years back. I cut one up and spread the seeds out on a paper towel and dried them out. When it came time to plant them I found they were stuck to the paper towel so I cut it up into little pieces, a seed on each and put about 40 them into potting mix. I was sitting out in the conservatory one day a few weeks later, having a cuppa when I glanced down at the trays and saw dozens of little tomato plants. They had ALL come up! I wound up giving some plants back to my bro in law who hadn't saved any seeds. I've had great success with them ever since. If I can grow them anyone can! :D
