Just shows how different things appeal to different people.
We saw Money Balls tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Good stories with no sex or violent. 8/10

Really, i just thought the trailer looked so boring, i gave my tixs to someone who had a ten yr old boy, so hope they enjoyed it,yeah good to get a nice clean story, don't need all that stuff to make it a great film,my daughter saw BIG MIRACLE, i alas could not go , had an appointment, but she said it was amazing, think i will be using up my free movie tixs to see this one.

Romantics Anonymous - More of a Cadbury's or a Guylian than a Valhrona or a hand crafted Caffet, this quirky romantic comedy follows a traditional recipe free of embellishment. It's amusing enough in it's "quirky couple find love amidst misunderstandings" plot line, and there are certainly chuckles enough. But, much like Madame LeGrand critiques Chocolate Mill's product in the film as "traditional, obsolete" I'm going to have to say the same about the movie itself. Well, maybe not obsolete, but there's nothing new here. Like a chunk of Dairy Milk, it's competent but lacking passion or distinction. 6/10

Oscar winners for anyone interested who wasn't already aware
I'm surprised Rango won Best Animated. Arguably Octavia Spencer was the best part of The Help but it was a pretty mediocre flick altogether so not surprised it didn't score any other statues. I haven't caught Hugo yet, but clearly I need to add it to my "to watch" list after The Iron Lady.
1. Cinematography: Hugo
2. Art Direction: Hugo
3. Costume Design: The Artist
4. Makeup: The Iron Lady
5. Foreign Language Film: A Separation
6. Supporting Actress: Octavia Spencer, The Help

9. Sound Mixing: Hugo
10. Documentary Feature: Undefeated

12. Visual Effects: Hugo
13. Supporting Actor: Christopher Plummer, Beginners
14. Original Score: The Artist, Ludovic Bource
15. Original Song: Bret McKenzie, Man or Muppet, The Muppets
16. Adapted Screenplay: Alexander Payne, Nat Faxon and Jim Rash, The Descendants
17. Original Screenplay: Woody Allen, Midnight in Paris

The Adventures Of Tintin : Secret Of The Unicorn - Spielberg hasn't directed a great movie since, arguably, Munich or (for the uncharitable perhaps) Saving Private Ryan. Tintin isn't exactly a return to form, but it's better than Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull at least. On the upside, the animation is superb. With all that Weta effort going into it, it's pretty much seamless. The voice acting is, by and large, good - Pegg and Frost perhaps underutilised here, and Craig is clearly outshone by Serkis and Bell. What doesn't fare so well is the action - the big sequences are cluttered and drag on and on with slapstick piling upon tedious coincidence - and the pacing - a good 20 minutes could have been lopped off, for the better. With bits borrowed from various books (mainly The Crab With The Golden Claws, and, unsurprisingly, Secret Of The Unicorn) the story doesn't quite fit together, but it's strong enough you can overlook the odd hiccup. There will, obviously, be a sequel. Here's hoping somebody's learned from this one first. 6.0/10

For those of you old enough to remember them, Michael Bay is making a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle flick.
Only they're aliens, not mutants. And given they're aliens then clearly they're not actually turtles either...
Remains to be seen if they're still teenagers or in fact ninja...

Simply yet another in a huge and growing pile of badly made, barely recognisable "reboot" / "remake" / "reimaging" / "update" garbage from the current lazy, talentless, selfish, egotisitcal generation in Hollyweird who think they know better than the person who actually created the original.
